SOLO ART EXHIBITION BY RENOS LAVITHIS
MAY 10-20, 2011
The exhibition, which included some 65 artworks from the artist’s prolific output, was in four main groupings, expressing Reno’s favourite subject matter and preferred techniques:
a) ‘Blue and the Sea’ – an ongoing theme, consisting of seascapes and the glory of Blue. These are oils on canvas.
b) ‘The Nude’ – freehand studies in drawing, from the human (mostly female) form, which he sees as part of his progress. He uses various techniques – pencils, crayons, charcoal, pen and ink or watercolour wash.
c) ‘My Cyprus’ – drawings, the inspiration for which comes from Cyprus and often his native Paphos, including his beloved archaeological monuments. They are drawn in pen, ink and wash, ink and watercolour wash, ink and graphite/wash, graphite and pencil.
d) ‘My London’ – views of London, which are a major part of Reno’s recent works, proving very popular, including scenes of the River Thames and historic buildings around Fleet Street, using mainly pen with ink and wash, but also graphite and pencil.
